Keith Richards: “Rumors of My Sobriety Are Greatly Exaggerated”
Photo: Shearer/WireImage
In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and producer Don Was tell the story behind the Rolling Stones upcoming Exile on Main Street reissue, which is due May 18th in a variety of special editions — several of which feature 10 never-before-heard Stones tracks from the Exile era. At the end of our phoner with Richards, we asked about the possibility of a new Stones studio album in the near future. "There's no definite plans, but I can't see any of them stopping," he says. "I wouldn't be surprised if we did some recording later this year." But the guitarist admits he's uncertain whether any sort of tour would follow. "I don't know how the rest of them feel about roadwork at the moment," he tells RS. "Maybe we'll search for a different way for the Stones to go back on the road. Maybe not the football stadiums anymore. Maybe something different. You can't go around there in lemon-yellow tights forever."
The intimate Rolling Stones: photos from the band's 1969 tour.
Richards also addressed reports he had stopped drinking. "Listen, the rumors of my sobriety are greatly exaggerated," he says. "And we'll leave it at that."
See the new issue of Rolling Stone for much more on the new Exile on Main Street reissue, Keith's forthcoming memoir, the documentary that Johnny Depp is currently prepping about his life, and the next Stones album.

Want to overthrow US government? Pay $5
Want to seize control of the US government? Just fill out this 'subversive agent' form and pay a $5 fee, thank you
What would the rest of America do without South Carolina? The state that gave us Governor Mark Sanford's "Appalachian Trail" sex scandal and zany politicians who want to replace the US dollar with gold just keeps on giving.
This time it's a law on South Carolina's statute books, called the Subversive Activities Registration Act, allowing anyone wishing to seize or overthrow the government of the US to register with South Carolina's secretary of state and pay a $5 fee.
The law states:
"Every member of a subversive organization, or an organization subject to foreign control, every foreign agent and every person who advocates, teaches, advises or practices the duty, necessity or propriety of controlling, conducting, seizing or overthrowing the government of the United States, of this state or of any political subdivision thereof by force or violence or other unlawful means, who resides, transacts any business or attempts to influence political action in this state, shall register with the secretary of state on the forms and at the times prescribed by him."
And what happens if you don't? "Any organization or person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine of not more than $25,000 or imprisonment for not more than 10 years, or by both fine and imprisonment."
The good news is that the form is only one page long, and is straight forward to fill out. It reads:
SUBVERSIVE AGENT FORM
Filing Fee – $5.00Name of Subversive Organization
Name of Chief Agent of Organization
Address of Chief AgentCheck the appropriate box.
Do you or your organization directly or indirectly advocate, advise, teach or practice the duty or necessity of controlling, seizing or overthrowing the government of the United States, the state of South Carolina or any political division thereof? [ ] YES [ ] NOIf yes, please outline the fundamental beliefs. If applicable, attach a copy of the bylaws or minutes of meetings from the last year.
Filing Instructions
Subversive Agent Form (filed in duplicate)
$5.00 made payable to the South Carolina Secretary of State
Self-Addressed, Stamped Return EnvelopeReturn all documents to:
South Carolina Secretary of State's Office
Attn: Corporate Filings
PO Box 11350
Columbia, SC 29211
You can download your own copy of the form here from an official state website, where it is filed under "miscellaneous forms".
Sadly, filling in the form and paying the $5 fee won't bring about the overthrow of the US government. You and your organisation are still expected to do all the hard work.
The secretary of state's office told CBS News Hotsheet that 11 registrations have recently been received, among them an atheist group, a liberal law firm and someone claiming to represent "Democratic Party of the United States," which allegedly has the fundamental beliefs of "socialism – Marx, Englels, Sanders."
Another $5 well spent was received from the "American Citizens for the Extermination of South Carolina," which says it believes "the US should use its nuclear arsenal to detach SC from the mainland, use heavy ships to tow the state into the Atlantic and sink it and its political idiots."
The law dates back to the height of the "red scare" of the 1950s – but no one took any notice until last month, when news of the form's existence began to circulate on the internet.

The most awesome iPhone stand ever made out of cutlery
Filed under: Accessories, Humor, iPhone, iPod touch
How much will one of these unique items put you back? About US$20, plus shipping. That's less expensive than some of the fancy-schmancy stands you can buy through more traditional sources, and let's face it -- these stands are really cool.

What works, what sucks and what's coming for 11 horror remakes!
According to Hollywood's logic, anything worth doing is worth doing over again—especially if people remember you did it the first time.
Sequels notwithstanding, the studios are churning out one remake, reboot or "re-imagining" after another of familiar and not-so-familiar horror movies and franchises, the latest of which is The Crazies, Breck Eisner's update of the 1973 George Romero movie of the same name.
While the jury's still out on A Nightmare on Elm Street—which probably qualifies as the Holy Grail of horror remakes—SCI FI Wire decided to take a closer look at some of the other classic horror films that will return to the screen in the not-so-distant future and why the originals deserve to stand on their own.

Korea launches robot theme park: What could possibly go wrong?
Look, we've all seen the movies. We know what happens when humans are stupid enough to build robot theme parks. We die!
But some people just aren't getting the message.
Robot Land, set to open in Incheon, South Korea, in 2012, claims that it's building "the world's first theme park focused on robots with exhibition halls, robot experience hall, learning facilities and entertainment facilities."

Sign of the apocalypse: blood waterfalls
Our planet is a weird place. I can imagine visiting Antactica, seeing nothing but white ice and gray rocks for days on end… but then, how would you react when you saw this?
Yegads! That is a part of Taylor Glacier, specifically the Blood Falls, located in the dry valleys of Antarctica. Apparently, a lake was covered by the glacier about 2 million years ago, trapping the microbial life inside. They have evolved independently of outside life for all that time, and were discovered due to a few leaks from under the glacier.
The water coming out is red due to iron, and is incredibly salty with almost no oxygen in it. The microbes — 17 different kinds have been found there — must use sulfur as a catalyst instead of oxygen, which has never been seen before.
It's always surprising when an entirely alien ecosystem is found on Earth. It makes me hopeful that when we start to explore other planets, we'll find life in splendid and incredible varieties. Nature is clever, vast, and has had a long long time in the lab to experiment. If we can find things so alien in a place so familiar, what will happen when we explore a truly alien world?
