As award season marched on, the Iraq war pic, The Hurt Locker, scored top awards for the British BAFTAs on Sunday, besting Avatar for best film and director, and took four other awards. James Cameron's Avatar only managed a two technical awards for production design and special visual effects.
It was a big win for Cameron's ex-wife, Kathryn Bigelow, who is the first woman to be honored with a best directing BAFTA award.
